Cape Verde jersey searches skyrocket on Mercado Livre

What happened?

The Cape Verde jersey became the 3rd most searched foreign jersey by Brazilians on Mercado Livre, behind only Argentina and Portugal. The searches for the African team's uniforms reached an average of 1,700 per day during the group stage.

Why is this important for Cape Verde?

The interest in foreign team jerseys also grew in other areas, with Paraguay registering a 1,880% increase in searches in the two days following Germany's elimination. Capelli Sport, the manufacturer of the Cape Verde jersey, signed an agreement with the Cape Verdean Football Federation in October last year.

What comes next?

The Brazilian team had its highest peak of searches on the day of its debut, June 13, and broke the record again after beating Japan, also on June 29. Capelli Sport will also dress the American lacrosse and field hockey teams at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
