Cape Verde is recognized as a model for African football after a historic campaign in the 2026 World Cup. FIFA acknowledges the country as a model for football development in the continent.
The Cape Verdean football federation received support from the FIFA Forward program, which since 2016 has funded 17 projects for infrastructure and sports development.

FIFA's regional director for Africa, Gelson Fernandes, stated that the archipelago has become an example for other federations in the continent.
